Teacher classroom Grants

Beauty of Bronze

Picture
Since the 2019/2020 school year, Friends of the Lower Grand Coulee (FLGC) partners with the North Central Educational Foundation (NCEF) to support classroom learning by providing small but meaningful teacher grants to creative and innovative teachers. NCEF manages the grant application process and FLGC focuses our funding on schools within the area in and near the Lower Grand Coulee.

2024/2025 Grants Funded
Colleen Grigg - Ephrata, Cascade Learning Loop
Tiffany Montgomery - Ephrata, Growing Minds
Kim Francisco - Moses Lake, Colville Tribe Field Trip
Oscar Romero - Quincy, Habitable Zone Exploration: Benefits of Rovers
Kyla Schaapman - Quincy, "Since Time Immemorial" in Kinder
Krystal Merriel - Soap Lake, Butterfly Lifecycle

Teachers can learn more by visiting the NCEF web site where they will find information about how to apply as well as an application that may be completed and submitted online.

NOTE: NCEF'S Fall grant campaign application deadline is September 30th each year. There may be other grant opportunities, so be sure to visit their web site.

Supporting Community Through Art

We are strong believers in the benefits of art and artistic experiences to a community.
We also believe that supporting artistic experiences in schools (as well as our community) helps students with their self-confidence, self-understanding, and inventiveness. Music, theater and other collaborative art experiences can help students with their social and communication skills.

FLGC sponsors the participation of Soap Lake 5th grade students in the Beauty of Bronze program, an annual arts education program based in Wenatchee that takes place in participating local schools. This program gives fifth graders the opportunity to work with a professional artist to create and exhibit their own small bronze sculptures.
