Soap Lake Parks & Recreation Plan
The City of Soap Lake officially adopted a long awaited update to the Park and Recreation Plan in 2016 after hundreds of volunteer hours, a comprehensive on-line public survey and 2 public workshops. FLGC directors Ken Greene, Andrew Kovach, and Nell Kovach were heavily involved in the Park and Recreation Plan development process. The City is now moving forward with creating the Master Plan for West Beach and Smokiam Park. FLGC will be providing support for this plan in two ways: directly with costs of materials and construction, as well as the solicitation of matching funds required to obtain additional grant funding for the project.

Soap Lake to Ephrata Intercommunity Trail Project
Friends of the Lower Grand Coulee (FLGC) has embarked on a long term commitment to establishing a safe and comfortable bicycle/walking/jogging trail linking the communities of Soap Lake and Ephrata. The City of Ephrata has made important strides in formalizing an extensive city wide trail system that includes making positive inroads towards utilization of canal service roadways. Our goals include developing a lake loop trail leading to the Northern terminus of the Ephrata trail via private easements, public roadways, and canal service roadways. The trails will also include interpretive pause and viewpoint stations, and restrooms.
